Sekuru Chigamba was born in the rural region of Gurure. As he says:

Guruve is a place of marvels. That is where I was born, in Guruve. We were born in Guruve, my forefathers are there in Guruve.

If you go to Guruve, there are places where you aren’t free to say just anything, joking around in the forest. No, you will disappear, you won’t come back. If you are reproached in that way, you will spend perhaps two weeks, or even a month in the forest. Yes, then you’ll be found. So, those are the marvels at hand, those miracles that happen there. Yes, those are the very marvels.

That is why it is said that Guruve is a place of marvels. That is where that song, “Guruve,” came from. That is also where I was born. Because I said, “Shall I perform everyone else’s material? And my own, where will it come from?” And then, I came out with “Guruve.”
